Food is expensive and getting more so.

A July Harris poll found that more than half of Americans struggle to afford groceries. In the UK, food prices are on track to rise by 50% since the cost of living crisis began in 2021.

As for eating out, a 2025 YouGov survey reported that seven in 10 Americans still go out to eat once a month, but 37% say they’re doing less so than a year ago.
